Customer Reviews

THIS IS NOT A BASS CHORUS - THIS IS A GUITAR PEDAL
Just wanted to add a note that Amazon has all of the Modtone mini pedals listed as "bass" pedals in their header descriptions. I'm sure they could all be used for bass, but they are not indicated as being specifically formulated for bass guitar anywhere by Modtone. Modtone's own videos on youtube indicate that these minis are guitar effects.
First, the build quality of this pedal seems very good. Nothing about it feels cheap. I wanted a small chorus pedal (due to limited pedalboard space) and something relatively cheap because it's not an effect I use a lot, but it's nice to have.
So far this thing is feeling "just right" to me. The main attribute that I love is the Level control. This is NOT a volume level, but rather a mix of wet/dry signal. And I must ask, shouldn't every modulation effect have a mix/level control? It makes them so much more usable, IMO.
What you get with this pedal is a very nice, usable selection of basic chorus effects. You can't get too far out there, though with all 3 knobs maxed you do get that warbly, detuned chorus thing, if you need that.
High depth settings with the Level turned up gets you the swirly Leslie-esque/univibe (sort of, but not really) sounds. Higher Rate settings with the depth dialed back get you the more "doubled" kind of chorus sounds.
I keep the Level around noonish and adjust the other two as-needed. My only other current chorus pedal is a Rocktron Tsunami. I don't use it because it's huge, but also you can't turn it on without hitting everyone over the head with "HEY, I'M USING A CHORUS PEDAL!". It's ok, but I wanted something more subtle, and with this Mod mini, I've found it. Very usable, musical, subtle chorus whenever you need it. What more could you ask?
